What Dubai Plates Typically Sell For
The ranges below are rounded from published 2026 market guides. Your plate lands inside one band, then code and pattern decide where.
| Digits | Typical Dubai range | What moves it |
|---|---|---|
| 1 digit | AED 5M to 55M | Auction only. The record is AED 55M for Dubai P7. |
| 2 digits | AED 500K to 14M | Double-letter codes (AA to DD) reach the top of the range. |
| 3 digits | AED 50K to 500K+ | Early codes such as A can pass AED 1M. |
| 4 digits | AED 15K to 100K+ | Strong patterns on early codes go far higher. |
| 5 digits | AED 3K to 15K | Repeating or sequential patterns can reach AED 30K to 50K. |
Ranges are rounded from published 2026 market guides and recent auction reports. They are not an official price list.
Five Things That Decide a Plate Price
Two plates with the same digits can differ by ten times. This is why.
Emirate
Dubai and Abu Dhabi dominate. The same digits can cost 10 to 50 times less in the northern emirates.
Code
Early and auction-only codes carry the prestige. A late code with the same digits is far cheaper.
Digit count
Fewer digits means fewer plates in existence. Each digit you remove multiplies the price.
Pattern
Repeats, sequences, palindromes and round numbers are easy to remember, so buyers pay more.
Culture
7, 8 and 786 are popular for religious and luck reasons and add a premium.
Which Code Letters Carry a Premium
The code tells buyers how old, how rare and how prestigious the series is.
| Group | Codes | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Auction prestige | AA, BB, CC, DD | Offered through RTA auctions. Reported sales include BB 20 at AED 7.52M and CC 22 at AED 8.35M. |
| Heritage | A, B, C | The earliest single-letter series. Three-digit A plates often trade above AED 1M. |
| Strong | D to K | Established codes with steady demand. |
| Expansion | L to Z | Newer series. Reported RTA releases of four-digit L and M plates started from AED 95,000. |
| Other emirates | Numbers and letters | Abu Dhabi codes: 1, 4 to 22 and 50. Sharjah: 1 to 4. Ajman, RAK, UAQ and Fujairah each use their own letters. |

Value it first

Compare asks
Look at several listings and recent auctions for the same digit count and code.
Use the official route
Transfers go through RTA in Dubai or the relevant police authority in other emirates.

Number Plate Questions, Answered
How is this plate price calculated?
The tool starts from typical Dubai market ranges for the digit count, then adjusts for the emirate, the code and every pattern it finds, such as repeats, sequences and lucky numbers.
Is this an official valuation?
No. It is an estimate based on published market ranges. Real prices are decided by auctions and private negotiation, so treat the range as a guide.
Why are two-digit and single-digit plates hard to price?
They trade rarely and mostly at auctions, where a single bid can double the price. The tool marks these results as low confidence.
What is the most expensive plate ever sold?
Dubai plate P7 reached AED 55 million at an auction in 2023. Abu Dhabi plate 1 sold for AED 52.2 million in 2008.
Are northern emirates really that much cheaper?
Yes. Their markets are thinner, so the same digits usually trade at a small fraction of the Dubai price.
Does the car matter when I sell a plate?
The plate is a separate asset, but buyers and brokers value a well-kept car, and our car inspection helps you sell or transfer with confidence.
